yep yep. lucky me. i got the MusicFest tickets through balloting ! woohoo! it was absolutely worth the money...the performances, the atmosphere, the great emcees.
ok.. winners from the various categories are:
debbie for vocals
risque for dance
hongsheng & co. for group vocals
the daniel band for bands
ah well.. all the other performances were great too! blaze looked so sad that they had not won the competition. i must say that they were great. they do deserve special mention. and i liked that duet "i believe in you" that joel and kahei did.nice song.part of it was in latin i think. *must go look for that song. oh! and han loong's band, the camels were good too. they totally hyped up the whole auditorium! people were screaming "HAVE A NICE DAY!" no need to mention the song they did. you can infer..
the award-winning groups were great of course, but they'll probably get to perform for the school one day, so no need to say too much.see them for yourself!

"the health and fitness society will be selling broccolis in the canteen today to promote healthy lifestyle.pe teachers urge all students to grab their broccolis immediately after assembly."
"a team of medical officers will be coming down today to perform circumcision for all able-bodied male students."
"a group of officials from the guiness book of record will be in vjc today to witness the creation of a new world record... the loudest "yo vjc" cheer.all students are encouraged to come down to the treehouse at 10am today and cheer."
"the vjc soccer team has been disqualified. 4 players have been found to have consumed performance-enhancing drugs."
interesting announcements ey... this AND upturned canteen tables, the tops of wooden tables standing on its sides, wooden stools placed around some unfortunate teacher's car, smelly somewhat disgusting-looking shoes hanging from the railings, 'detour' signs pointing to nowhere,'no entry' raffia strings at the entrance of LT1, 'wet paint' and 'beware of falling objects' signs all around the school, the national anthem played by the chinese orchestra and a rockband rendition of the victorians' anthem...
gives you the perfect "day-before-april's-fool".
we must give credit to the creative student council and CT council of course.

i was in malacca over the past weekend (meaning fri to sun). together with my 2 aunties,1 uncle, auntie's husband and 2 kid cousins, we were supposed to attend a wedding on sunday BUT tea ceremony was at 12 AND our coach was supposed to leave at 12.hah. so there goes our plans for attending the tea ceremony.
anyway, we took a coach from s'pore to malacca (8am to abt 11.30am).arrived at equatorial hotel and checked in. blah blah blah. then the bgroom picked us up and we had chickenrice balls for lunch, at my dad's cousin's godma's shop. hmm..ok. my dad has lots of cousins.yeh.*note. bgroom is also my dad's cousin.therefore, he is in a way, my uncle.hmm.. confusing.then we went shopping at markota parade (where else..)and walked back to the hotel.ok. this is boring.
so.we met my dad's cousin's son in the evening when he came to pick us up for dinner. THIS IS SO UNFAIR! he is 19 and he can already drive. bleargh.>< i want to learn to drive. oh and did i mention that he's the pride and joy of the family? because he's the top scorer in malacca for his cohort, during their graduating exams (something like our O's) 9As and 8A1s. yeah. great. i am NOT jealous or something. it's just so sad.sigh.. my results seem so pathetic now.ok. i am NOT a bitter person. he's quite nice actually. we didn't talk much though, other than the "oh.so how the scholarship interview?" and "which jc are u studying at?" and "so what's your subject combi?" yeah.
anyway,i shall not elaborate too much about the wedding because umm.. i don't want to talk about it.haha.
i learnt something about my aunties and uncles during the trip. firstly, you should know that my grandma is a malaysian and my dad, uncles and aunties used to travel to malaysia quite often. they would stay with their grandparents (my great grandparents) in this shophouse whenever they are there. My great grandparents ran a coffeeshop and my auntie said that when they were young, they would go up to my granduncle's room, on the third floor and he would give them titbits to eat. then when they wanted to throw away the rubbish, he would tell them to throw it out of the window instead, into the drain directly below the window. i wonder how accurate their aiming can be..haha. but my uncle denied such a thing happening. therefore, i conclude that my auntie was the only one who did such a naughty thing.
now, the old coffeeshop has been converted into an art gallery and it has this nice big gorilla painted outside. my dad's cousin (another cousin) said that he is so embarrassed by it that he cannot bear to tell his son that he grew up in this "gorilla shophouse". the gorilla looks really adorable though..it has a flower in its mouth i think.haha.
haha. what crap.

i was at st nicks fiesta yesterday! it was fabulous! there were carnival rides, arcade stuff, games, food and friends.guest-of-honour was mr lim boon heng (minister, prime minister's office).guest performers included chew chor meng, jean yip(uhh..),and bands like ronin (heard that they are quite popular),the suns and genie. and mrs cheong got dunked!i was quite impressed by the sponsors they managed to get, like pastamania, coca cola, koo kee(some restaurant group), the cocoa tree etc.the prices were a little high though. for example a sausage on a stick costs $2 and haunted house costs $10(the queue was incredible! from the drama studio on the 3rd floor to the sci labs on the 2nd floor!) yup. BUT most of us eventually ended up trading in our allowances for more coupons! bleargh.there goes my money...
i was walking around with nat, xinhui, sharon, chaneline and a friend nat invited. i kinda felt sorry for that guy. he looked so miserable, trailing along behind this big group of girls. haha. thanx to his great host, nat. :P
argh. my dad just came in and said "try to do some study, ying xian.." >< it's the hols for goodness sake! i didn't even get to go to my grandma's house today! give me a break! sigh..
i feel kinda lonely whenever i am at home.i need to have some form of contact with the outside world.see..the only way is through the internet..
anyway,i hope my parents will allow me to go with the youths in my church for the mission trip to myanmar.but my parents don't sound very keen. my dad's reaction was "hah..don't even know what they are doing there." well, you get the idea that he thinks its a mighty waste of time.hmm.. i wonder if i can add that as part of my portfolio. afterall, it's community work. :D
ok. it's the beginning if what's SUPPOSED TO BE the hols. it's one pathetic week punctuated with harmonica practices on tue and thu, but it isn't so bad. i kinda like the people in harmoc.AND i need to have some form of contact with the outside world.haha. that sounds funny.i must have a very sad sense of humour..
right.happy hols!

ODDBALL IS A LOUSY PERSON. let me say that again. LOUSY * i wonder if the word lousy comes from the word "louse or plural lice" *
i have been feeling very sorry for myself lately. i sometimes feel like i am redundant. you know.. i just didn't seem to have done anything or can do anything to impact somebody's life. i want to be a person who can change lives, who can make a difference in this world. but i can't. i am pathetic.
Here's what my keychain says: 27th March. People born on this day will defend the vulnerable. They usually achieve their personal goals and will always give 100%. They never fail to give opinions.
When i read this,i totally feel like laughing. it's probably totally untrue except maybe the part about giving opinions.u know... i think i probably talk too much.i was a better person last time in lower pri when i spoke less. when u talk less, u hear more. that's a good piece of advice.
I feel that i have been drifting away from my friends (pals/zhi1 ji3) from secondary sch since we started jc.it's so sad that although we remain in the same school, we meet each other everyday, we see each other at lectures, we seem to have so many secrets that can't be shared. i miss those days, those good old days when we sat in macdonalds or the soyabean shop outside school, after a long day of extra lessons, tests etc. talking.. about anything that crossed our mind -- from syf to weird teachers (mrs low) ahah. to nice pastries from the beancurd shop to nieces. i wonder what happened.now we greet each other in the morning (if we even meet at all) say hi and all those niceties and that's it.what happened? i dunno.
i wish i had someone to talk to, someone who will share with me her secrets.
to that person out there: i haven't found you.
to some people out there: i miss the old you.i am sorry for being such a selfish idiot.i know you all have new classes, new friends, new commitments. i am sorry.it's just that i can't come to terms with being without you all being always there beside me. like i said.. i am a selfish idiot.forgive me.it's just that i feel so lonely sometimes.
to some people in njc: i miss you people too. thanx for being such nice people.
dear God:
please make me a better and more understanding person.forgive me for my awful attitude and selfishness.and help me be a better person.and help me to learn to let go. people come and go. it isn't easy finding somebody who truly understands that...people aren't always what they seem. i am weak Lord. make me strong.i put myself into your hands. pls lead me in the way you want me to go as i go about each day of my life. thank you Lord.
in Jesus' most precious name i pray.
amen.

Goodbye's the saddest word I'll ever hear
Goodbye's the last time I will hold you near
Someday you'll say that word and I will cry
It'll break my heart to hear you say goodbye

a stroll in the morning breeze. 7.30 am . ivy, shun yuan and yours truly. what we did? strolling along the footpaths, bicycle tracks, the sandy beach. listened to the soothing "pshhh pshh.." of the splashing waves. wrote 06:35 on the damp sand of the beaches. stomp on the sand to make prominent footprints (ok.. more like that's what I did). traced doggy footprints that turned out to be half-footprints of humans tiptoeing off the sand. made godzilla-style footprints(more like holes)in the sand.
what we had wanted to achieve? to help ivy fa xie or maybe just to make sure that she's alright.
at the end of it.. i think all 3 of us took something away from this. i hope that it had helped ivy in one way or another and shun yuan.. cheer up okee?
to ivy: don't think too much. tjc isn't that bad. here's a hug. *hugs* :)
you are absolutely welcome to crash O2. ahah. care to join us for xcountry? haha.
lubin, johnathon, stella and wenjia - don't kill me. ><
angelina came late because of a car accident. i feel guilty because it would not have happened if i had not asked you to come so early. sooo sorry. it was nice sitting on the breakwater (rock thingy) watching the waves crashing on the algae-covered rocks below and the kids running around barefooted, splashing in the rockpools.
a fulfilling morning indeed.

The date 020306. I wanted to write about wenjia's birthday initially but dear angelina just declared that she won't be staying in VJC.now i have decided to dedicate today's post to her.
I'm sorry angelina.she said not to tell everyone else about it but i realised that people will know it sooner or later.i'm so sorry. forgive me.
angelina is a cute and pretty girl ( i bet she wants me to say that) but beneath that, she has a huge personality to match her looks. although i find her pretty annoying at times when she makes some *weird* remarks or suggestions, it's probably because she is just somebody who speaks her mind. a thought pops up in her mind and she can't resist saying it. you know.. come to think about it, i am like that at times too.
it's been a short 2 months and yet we have all developed some kind of attachment to the people in our class. from the nonsensical scandals that have somehow surfaced to our unanimously voting mrs liew our favourite teacher to JTS, all of us have our own favourite memories of the people, teachers and places.
dear angelina, i never got to know you all that well. you are a great person (if irritating at times.. ahah.. just kidding) and a great loss for all of us in the class. thank you for being part of our wonderful class and here's wishing you all the best for your future endeavours wherever you may be.please don't think that you are no longer a part of 06S35. i assure you that you'll always be welcomed to visit, tag and post on our class blog anytime. it's good enough having been once a part of the class.remember.once a victorian, always a victorian. we'll miss you so much, dear sister.
lots of love, ying xian.
i do realise that some of my sentences do not link very well. its very difficult to write in proper english when there are so many things running through my head.do excuse me.
there's no friend like a sister. and there's no sister like you.
goodbye sister. and thank you for everything.
